IT’S ABOUT COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY, SAYS LUNGU

…..As he assures the nation that Government is closely monitoring the situation

PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says everyone has a role to play in the fight against the Coronavirus epidemic as Government is working to keep everyone safe.

Writing on his Facebook wall a few minutes ago, President Lungu says there’s currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease (COVID-19) hence the need for everyone to take responsibility.

“AS Government and other stakeholders continue working hard to keep you safe; you too have an important role to play in this war against Coronavirus. You can protect yourself and help prevent spreading the virus to others if you wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, with soap and water or alcohol-based hand rub,” President Lungu said.

He said covering one’s nose and mouth with a disposable tissue or flexed elbow when you cough or sneeze, avoid close contact (1 meter) by practicing social distance at all times and avoiding public gatherings and crowded places were some of the measures that could keep people safe.

“Avoid touching your mouth, eyes, or nose. Stay home and self-isolate from others in the household if you feel unwell. The government is closely monitoring the situation and will constantly inform the nation on the next steps,” he said.
