CHOMA MAN ROBBED, MURDERED

CRIMINALS have robbed and murdered a 31-year old man in Choma before dragging him to the nearby field, 20 metres off Sibanyati-Siachitema road.

Ndaala Chinyemba was initially reported as a missing person by his father who alerted the police that his son had gone missing under unknown circumstances.

His body was however discovered yesterday around 15:45 hours in Sibanyati area in Chief Cooma of Choma District in one of the fields.

In a statement accessed by The Scoop, police spokesperson Esther Katongo says officers found the body in a semi-decomposed state.

Ms. Katongo says it is suspected that that Mr. Chinyemba was robbed of his motorbike valued at K13, 000 and a Company Samsung phone valued at K3,000 bringing the total value of property stolen to K16, 000 before he was killed and dumped.

“Police who visited the scene found the body in a semi-decomposed state and it is suspected that the victim was dragged  20 meters off Sibanyati-Siachitema road into the bush and was robbed of his motorbike valued at K13, 000 and a Company Samsung phone valued at K3,000 bringing the total value of property stolen to K16, 000.

“The body is in the mortuary awaiting postmortem. Investigations have been instituted,” Ms. Katongo said.

Meanwhile, a six year old male juvenile has died after an ox- cart drawn by oxen on which he was on hit into a log and overturned.

This occurred on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at about 15:00 hours at Sipulila Village, Chief Mapanza, Choma District and was reported to police on yesterday.

“Aboard the ox-cart were three male juveniles aged five and six years. The accident happened when the animals went astray and in the process the ox-cart hit into a log and overturned upside down, landing on the head of one of the occupants identified as Prosper Mudenda,” she said.
