PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu has with immediate effect terminated the contract for former North-Western police commissioner, Hudson Machila.
The President’s discretionary decision is in exercise of powers vested in him by Article 92 (2) (e) and 92 (2) (f) read with Article 270 of the Laws of Zambia.
State House last evening issued a statement confirming the development while quoting the letter delivered to Mr. Machila, signed by the President.
“I hereby terminate your contract as Commissioner of Police with immediate effect,” reads the statement in part.
President Lungu thanked Mr. Machila for the service rendered to the country and wished him well in his future endeavors.
Mr. Machila is believed to have worked in collusion with north-Western Province PF chairperson, Jackson Kungo, in alleged illegal gold mining at Kanselele in Mwinilunga, as well as involvement in corrupt activities.
Mr. Kungo has also been suspended from his position by the party pending the outcome of the investigations.
