FOUR people have died while 15 others are nursing injuries after the Power Tools bus they were in flipped near the Kabompo River Bridge this morning and ploughed through the thicket by the river bank.
Road Transport and safety Agency (RTSA) head of Public Relations, Fredrick Mubanga, told The Scoop in a statement that a Scania bus, registration number ALT 2165 belonging to Power Tools, was involved in an accident after the driver, identified as Christopher Mulenga, lost control.
Mr. Mubanga said the bus had 19 passengers on board with four fatalities recorded so far while 15 sustained serious injuries.
“According to preliminary investigations conducted by the Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA), the accident happened after the driver of the bus identified as Christopher Mulenga, lost control of the bus when he was crossing the Kabompo River at Mundanya, hit the sides of the bridge and plunged on the river bank,” Mr. Mubanga said.
He said the RTSA will update the public on the detailed findings of the accident in due course.
