THE Zambia Gaming Association (ZGA) has commended President Edgar Lungu for allowing Casinos to resume operations subject to meeting health guidelines that mitigate the spread of the Covid-19.
ZGA Public Relations Director Simon Lungu says Casinos carter for other businesses that fall under association’s mandate such as Slot Business and Betting houses.
Mr. Lungu says these are key in contributing to Zambia’s social and economic development through remittance of the much-needed taxes to the treasury and job creation with thousands of jobs created among others.
“As ZGA we would like to encourage all our members running Casinos, Betting Houses and Slot Businesses to uphold the guidelines provided by the Head of State and the Ministry of Health such as ensuring clients wear face masks and the business entities provide hand sanitizers or hand washing facilities at entrances.
“We would further encourage all our members to procure mobile digital thermometers to check temperatures for clients before admission. The opening of casinos is a reflection of government’s resolve to listen to all key stakeholders as we feel our submissions to various relevant government agencies and Ministries were taken on board and given positive consideration,” Mr. Lungu said.
He has assured the Head of State and Government that ZGA will soon commence a countrywide exercise to ensure compliance for health guidelines and regulatory requirements such as licenses for its members.
