GOLD THEFT SUSPECTS NABBED IN MWINILUNGA

POLICE in Mwinilunga in North-Western Province have arrested seven people who were found in possession of six bags of Gold samples, weighing 220 Kilograms with an estimated value of K60, 000.

Police Public Relations Officer Esther Katongo has told The Scoop in a statement that on Sunday, May 10, 2020 between 01:00 hours and 02: 00 hours, officers carried out an operation at Kasenseli Gold Mining in Mwinilunga.

Ms. Katongo says the officers impounded a motor vehicle, Toyota Fortuner Registration No. DBC 78, white in colour, with seven people on board.

She says the seven had in their possession, six bags of Gold samples and two metal detector machines.

“They have been jointly charged for the offence of theft and have since appeared in court today, May 12, 2020 and have been granted bail,” Ms. Katongo said.
