SIAVONGA RESIDENTS RESTRICTED FROM VISITING CHIRUNDU

By Scoop Reporter

SIAVONGA District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has urged people from his district against visiting neighbouring Chirundu until the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) is controlled.

In a statement today, Mr. Kanyama says COVID-19 cases recorded in Chirundu District are worrying to nearby districts like Siavonga due to their proximity as people from the two districts interact on a diary bases.

“It’s to this background that I advise the department of livestock and fisheries in Siavonga to seriously monitor Chirundu fish traders visiting Siavonga. Patrols and inspection in all fishing camps must be intensified. Officers under the department of Livestock and Fisheries must be on the ground.

“Those going against COVID-19 health guidelines should be sent back to where they are coming from. Entry should be denied to individuals disregarding Corona Virus health guidelines regardless of their standing in society,” Mr. Kanyama said.

He has appealed to those manning road check points not to be intimidated and that those individuals causing problems at the check points should be surrendered to the state police for “good punishment”.

“The fight against the spread of the corona virus is everyone’s responsibility,” he said.
