FORMER LUSAKA MAYOR BLASTS LCC OVER DONATIONS

By Scoop Reporter

FORMER Lusaka Mayor Mike Mposha has blasted Lusaka City Council (LCC) over lack of accountability over food stuffs donated to mitigate the impact of the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19), which he says have been personalized.

Mr. Mposha on Friday took to social media to blast his former employers saying he has been following its donations to the people but that giving people a packet of cornflakes and mealie meal each from the donations made is retrogressive.

He wonders how sustainable these donations are and what impact they will make to the hungering masses.

“I’ve been keenly following the food donations by various leaders. Here in Lusaka City, the Mayor has heightened these donations. Where these food items are coming from, their quantities and how the whole LCC as an institution, has now been personalized. This will be a discussion for another day.

“Of interest currently, is how sustainable this exercise is. What impact will this have on our hunger-stricken citizens or residents? Imwe sure, tuma cornflakes and a small bag of mealie meal? Is this how we can lower our citizens?”  He asked.

He says it is this kind of behaviour which is reducing national leadership to child’s play.

“What kind of empowerment is this? I don’t know about what you think but clearly for me, the country’s leadership is being reduced to child’s play.

“The picture below shows the Chelstone area councilor Smart Mwitwa earlier today (Friday) representing Mayor (Miles) Sampa at a donation ceremony in Chelstone,” he said before posting a picture of Mr. Mwitwa with beneficiaries of the food donated.
