PATRIOTIC Front (PF) cadre Fanny Zimba has apologised to Lusaka City Mayor Miles Sampa for misappropriating K87, 000 from his Do It Yourself (DIY) projects.
Two months ago, Mr. Sampa handed over Ms. Zimba to police after she failed to remit the money for the project and was consequently arrested and the case taken to court.
But Ms. Zimba has now written to Mr. Sampa asking for forgiveness saying she now understands the gravity of what she has done as the said funds which were under her care, were for intended beneficiaries.
In her letter dated May 12, 2020 and addressed to Mr. Sampa, Ms. Zimba acknowledged misappropriating the funds and asked for forgiveness.
“I write to tender my sincere heartfelt apologies for misappropriating the funds which I was entrusted with. I wish to apologise to you, the people of Lusaka, and all the corporate and individuals who contributed to these funds.
“The project is for the benefit of the people and all those funds should have bene used for the intended purpose. I do realise and acknowledge my shortcomings. I sincerely apologise for betraying your trust and for any ridicule that my action may have caused on you, your reputation, your family and the entire Lusaka,” Ms. Zimba said.
