By Scoop Reporter

A RULING Patriotic Front (PF) member has appealed to President Edgar Lungu and Local Government Minister Charles Banda to consider lifting the suspension slapped on all erring council employees across the country.

Gideon Nkhata says it is unbearable for affected employees to be on suspension for almost eight months since last year.

“With all the Protocols observed, I am appealing to our President Lungu through the Minister of Local Government, to consider lifting the suspension slapped on all erring council employees.

“There is no argument of any kind or dispute that our colleagues were wrong. Imagine to be on suspension from October 2019 to date, almost eight months now,” Mr. Nkhata said.

He says there is need for reconciliation and according the affected employees a second chance.

“I believe it’s high time we need to reconcile with all those who were at fought with our PF Government, especially civil servants, by forgiveness and consider giving them a second chance. We need to mend this relationship now as we are heading towards General Elections in 2021,” he said.
