POLICE in Siavonga today swung into action and arrested four people for using illegal fishing methods on Lake Kariba.
Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama has confirmed the development in a statement and says one of them has bolted from the marine police but that investigations have been instituted.
“Police in Siavonga district is commended for their quick action in arresting fishermen for illegal fishing activities on Lake Kariba. The four Zambian fishermen were arrested today Tuesday June 19, 2020 for illegal fishing activities.
“Their names will be withheld but I want to send a serious warning to fishermen to behave themselves while conducting fishing activities on Lake Kariba,” Mr. Kanyama said.
