THE Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) says the presidential nomination fee for 2021 elections should be hiked to more than K1 million per candidate
ZRP president Wright Musoma has told The Scoop in a statement that this is aimed at deterring political jokers and those hired to frustrate others.
“Zambia has a lot of jokers who have registered political parties and are even addressed as president this and president that. Some of these so-called presidents believe me, if they were taken for mental evaluation, no doubt, they would be found to be mentally deranged or sick
“Politics is a serious matter and we cannot afford as a nation, to allow even fools to be in politics. Isn’t this the reason we have some so-called presidents today who are just there to insult others?” Mr. Musoma asked.
He says to rid the field of such elements, both registration fees for political parties and presidential nomination fees must be very high, to a minimum of K1 million.
“So if Sean Tembo “Patriots for Economic Progress-PeP president) said that both presidential nomination fees and registration fees for political parties should be minimum K1 million, then we totally agree with him
“For someone to consider standing for presidential election, they must have numbers across the country and if they have numbers, then certainly K 1 million would not be an issue,” he said.
