THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in Chirundu has arrested a Chiawa Local Court Magistrate and Clerk of Court for corrupt practices.
Corporate affairs officer Crystal Mwale says Jackline Chiposhi aged 47 and Tryson Lishosho, aged 56 both residents of Kafue Local Court Grounds, are jointly charged with one count of corrupt practices by public officer.
Mr. Mwale says this is contrary to Section 19 (1) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
He says between November 1, 2018 and December 30, 2018, in Kafue District, Lusaka Province, Ms. Chiposhi and Mr. Lishosho, being public officers jointly and whilst acting together, did corruptly solicit for K2, 500 cash gratification, as an inducement or reward to reduce the compensation payable in a divorce case at Chiawa Local Court.
He says Ms. Chiposhi is further charged with one count of the offence of corrupt practices by a public officer, contrary to Section 19 (1) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012.
“Details are that on December 3, 2018, in Kafue District, Lusaka, Magistrate Chiposhi, being a public officer, corruptly received K2, 500 cash gratification, as an inducement or reward to reduce the compensation payable in a divorce case at Chiawa Local Court. The duo has since been released on bond and will appear in court soon,” Mr. Mwale said.
