STAKEHOLDERS from Mulobezi and Mwandi Districts have concluded talks over boundary disputes that had erupted between them.
Mulobezi District Council Public Relations Officer Elvis Muleya has told The Scoop in a statement that disputes started in 2017, with the first meeting being held on February 3, 2017 to resolve the same disputes but unfortunately the case could not be put to rest.
The area of tension is the rejection of Ipupumo stream as the boundary between the two districts as described in the narrative description, by stakeholders from Mwandi District as they claim the boundary is at Zowe Bride, an area of almost 30 Kilometres from the Namuzingu into Mulobezi District.
“Ipupumo stream is between Namuzingu primary school and Mulobezi District check point. Stakeholders from both Mwandi District and Mulobezi District again met on June 18, 2020 at Namakombwe School, a meeting which was led by the Western Province Local Government officer who came with a surveyor to settle the dispute.
“The case is now in the hands of the provincial local government officer who will give guidance as soon as the studies are concluded on the matter,” Mr. Muleya said.
