THE Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) has hit premier league leaders Forest Rangers as 28 members who include players and support staff have tested positive.
Club media and public relations officer Christina Zulu has confirmed the development in a statement to the media this morning and says the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) have been notified of the development.
Zulu says the club is also in touch with the District Health team for necessary precautions.
“In accordance with the health guidelines that have been put in place by the Ministry of Health and FAZ for clubs to take COVID-19 tests before the league resumes, Forest Rangers football players and support staff took tests earlier this week.
“A total number of 58 took the test from which 30 were negative as earlier reported and 28 positive cases. The club is in touch with the District Health team for necessary precautions. The club has since communicated to the Football Association of Zambia about this development,” Zulu said.
There is no immediate response from FAZ over the matter but Forest Rangers are today scheduled to play Zanaco at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium at 15:00.
