WE are no longer governed by laws but lawless men determined to have their way and getaway at whatever cost, renowned lawyer John Sangwa has said.
Minister of Health Chitalu Chilufya a fortnight ago appeared before the Lusaka Magistrate Court but could not take a plea.
The matter was adjourned due to unruly supporters who wanted to enter the court to offer solidarity to him.
Patriotic Front (PF) structures and Members of Parliament (MPs) had crammed the premises in the early hours to offer solidarity, but the courtroom could not accommodate all, prompting others to wait outside.
And commenting on the matter, Mr. Sangwa said in all his years of practicing as a lawyer, he had never seen such a situation where courts were disrespected with impunity.
“In all my years of practice as a lawyer, and appearances at court, never have I seen such a brazen display of utter unruliness, disrespect and contempt of court. We’re no longer governed by laws, but by lawless men determined to have their way and getaway at whatever cost,” Mr. Sangwa posted on his Facebook page.
