ZAMBIA national soccer team coach Milutin Sredojević (Micho), has finally signed a contract with the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ).
Speaking at the signing ceremony today, Minister of Sports Emmanuel Mulenga says Government will fully support Micho to overcome any challenges he will face in his capacity as coach of Zambia.
Mulenga says President Edgar Lungu, as FAZ patron, and Zambians at large, were optimistic that the Serbian is the coach they needed to turn around the fortunes of football in the country and has expressed hope that he will live up to the expectations.
He says things may not have gone well for Zambia to regain its image as a footballing nation but has challenged the coach to bring back the glory days.
“We will support you and make your work very easy. We will make sure we work hand-in-hand with FAZ pertaining to the challenges you are going to raise or the challenges you are going to face in this country. Many people in our country believe that you can deliver and you can meet the expectations of Zambians to make sure that the glory, which we had in this nation, is retained.
“You know that Zambia has been known as a footballing nation and in the past we have had challenges but with your coming, we will make sure that we overcome these challenges which we are faced with.
“I just want to assure you that we will be of help to you and you should feel free to call on us whenever you are faced with the challenges. The people of Zambia are looking forward to your performance. We believe and trust you are the right man for this job,” Mulenga said.
And Micho has expressed happiness that he has finally signed a contract, recounting that his recruitment process was not an easy one.
