Zambia’s military strength has been ranked 88 of 138 out of the countries in the world which have been considered for the annual Global Firepower (GFP’s) 2020 review.
The ranking puts Zambia 11th in Africa, below Egypt (9) South Africa (29), Nigeria (42), Ethiopia (60) the Democratic Republic of Congo (71), Libya (80), Tunisia (81), Kenya (84), Uganda (86), and Chad (88) on the world ranking.
Zambia holds a PwrIndx* rating of 1.6464 (note that 0.0000 is considered ‘perfect’). The ranking is based on manpower, airpower, land forces, naval forces, natural resources, logistics, financials, and geography.
Zambia’s total military personnel accounts for 18, 100 while the active personnel is 15, 100 with the reserve personnel accounting for 3, 000.
Meanwhile, the United States ranks highest followed by Russia and China. India is fourth while Russia, Japan, South Korea, France, and the United Kingdom rank 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th respectively.
Egypt and Brazil complete the top 10 brass as they are ranked 9th and 10th.
