ZAMBIA has recorded 408 new cases of COVID-19 out of 1, 611 tests done in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of COVID-19 cases to 5, 963.
The 408 cases recorded include 214 individuals identified from routine community screening, 93 contacts to known positive cases, 81 cases identified through healthcare facility screening, 15 health workers, 4 truck drivers, and one Brought-In-Dead (BID) case in Kabwe.
107 patients are admitted in various healthcare facilities with the majority at the Levy Mwanawasa isolation and treatment centre. 44 patients are on oxygen support, four of them are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
We have discharged total of 514 patients in the last 24 hours and this brings the cumulative total recoveries to 3,803 since the beginning of the outbreak.
The country has lost one patient at the Levy Mwanawasa isolation and treatment centre, bringing the total number of COVID-19-related deaths in the last 24 hours to 2 and these are yet to be classified.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 deaths now stands at 151.
