THE Football association of Zambia (FAZ) has fined Kafue Celtics and awarded Prison Leopards three points and a 3-0 score line over their unplayed game on Sunday after the earlier failed to produce COVID-19 test results.

On Sunday, the match involving the two teams was abandoned after Kafue Celtics failed to avail the COVID-19 results as per standard procedure and acting on written evidence from both teams and the referee’s report, FAZ arrived at this decision which will also see Kafue Celtics pay K4, 000 fine.

According to a letter by FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala to Kafue Celtics dated August 3, 2020, the FAZ disciplinary committee, having considered all written evidence adduced by both parties and the referee’s report, was satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that Kafue Celtics violated the match day COVID-19 protocols when it failed to produce the COVID-19 test results.

Kashala also says Kafue Celtics caused the abandonment of the match and therefore violated Article 109 of the FAZ Disciplinary Code.

“Your club forfeits the match as provided for in Article 77 of the FAZ Disciplinary Code. Prison Leopards have been awarded three points with a 3-0 score line. You have bene fined K4, 000 and this amount should be paid within seven days.

“In terms of Article 43 and 45 of the Disciplinary Code, you have the right to appeal the decision of the committee within 14 days of the notification of this decision,” read the letter in part.
