POLICE in Zimba yesterday conducted an identification parade for the suspected criminal reported to be behind a spate of heinous atrocities in Zimba and Kalomo Districts of Southern Province in which a number of the victims identified him as the perpetrator of the crimes he is charged with.
Lucky Kaluwe, 19, commonly known as Chilombwana, was nabbed a fortnight ago after eluding police officers for a long time following a spate of criminal activities he is accused of.
He is charged with one count of arson, five counts of unlawful wounding and three counts of rape.
He is alleged to have been armed with a machete each time he committed offences and was relocating from one place to the other after committing these crimes but was cornered and handed over to police on August 4, 2020 at about 05:30 hours by the Member of Parliament for Mapatizya, Clive Miyanda.
But when he was presented before the victims in Zimba yesterday, the girls he raped identified him as their assailant while those he assaulted identified him as the person behind the criminal activities.
