GOVERNMENT has sourced for funds towards the rehabilitation and construction of selected Township roads in Luanshya.
Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda last night told The Scoop that road works will start soon as preparations have reached an advanced stage, adding that the exercise is long overdue.
Mr. Chanda has thanked President Edgar Lungu for this move and has appealed to motorists, Luanshya residents, and other road users to give chance to the contractors once they move on site.
“Once roads are done, it will bring safe passage, reduce the cost of maintenance of vehicles, create jobs to the youths during construction, and bring back the lost beauty to the garden town of the Copperbelt,” Mr Chanda said.
And Luanshya Central Member of Parliament Steven Chungu has expressed delight towards the pending rehabilitation of selected roads in Luanshya which he says are in a deplorable state.
Mr. Chungu says the people of Luanshya have for many years complained over the bad state of the roads and that this comes as a relief to them.
