LATE Kabwe General Hospital medical doctor Abigirl Mulenga’s father has penned an emotional farewell message to his daughter in which he recounts the successes of his child from the time she was in secondary school.
Mr. Mulenga recounts that his daughter was the best pupil countrywide in Grade 12 in Literature in English in 2012 before replicating the same exploits at the Ivano Medical University in Ukraine where she flew the Zambian flag high after graduating as the 2019 best medical student.
Mr. Mulenga could not stomach the harsh reality that his daughter, who was yet to get her first salary for her labour, died only four days after complaining of a headache.
“Our daughter, Dr. Abigail Mulenga, it is just like yesterday God allowed you to live with us. Just four days of complaining of a headache, today, you answer to Gods call at such a tender age of 23 years 4 months, 7 weeks of working at Kabwe General Hospital.
“Even before you handle your first pay slip sure mummy. Your dad, mum, and brothers will forever be grateful to God for such an exemplary life. Best literature student Grade 12 2012. Best Medical student at Ivano Medical University 2019. MYSRIEP. Go well young doctor,” he wrote.
Dr. Mulenga fell ill on Friday and was transferred to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in Lusaka on Sunday after her condition worsened and she died last evening.
