STANDARD Chartered Bank-Zambia says it has tripled the number of new retail customers acquired in the last year as a result of the easy account opening process on the SC Mobile app.
Launched in 2019, the Bank’s SC Mobile remains the only banking App in Zambia that allows clients to open a bank account, end-to-end, via smartphone in just 15 minutes.
The client does not need to physically visit a branch to complete the account opening process, which is fully digitized.
Standard Chartered Bank Zambia has seen more clients opt for digital channels as it now boasts a 78 percent digital adoption rate. At present, over 88 percent of the Bank’s transactions are going through digital platforms.
In a statement today, StanChart has also announced the addition of the ZRA E-Tax feature on its digital banking platforms. This new feature now allows customers to pay their taxes via the SC Mobile app and Online Banking platforms safely from the comfort of their homes or offices without visiting a branch.
Standard Chartered Bank’s Head of Retail Banking, DeepPal Singh says the bank will continue to innovate client value proposition to meet their changing needs.
Mr. Singh says StanChart’s clients do not need to physically visit the branch to pay their taxes as they can now use the E-tax feature on our digital platforms and that the bank is pioneered digital banking in Zambia, having introduced the only Banking app in the country that is not just an app but a bank in its own right.
“We also continue to enhance our other channels for customers to have quick and easy banking, such as our new contactless visa debit and credit cards. This not only saves time for our customers transacting at point of sale machines, but is also a safer way to transact in the new normal,” said Mr. Singh.
He says the bank remains committed to Zambia and will continue providing world class banking solutions for its customers and that more enhancements will be made to its digital platforms within the next few months.
This year, Standard Chartered Bank was named the Best Consumer Digital Bank in Zambia 7 years in a roll by the prestigious Global Finance Awards for its superior digital banking capabilities, which have over 70 of the most common banking services readily available on SC Mobile.
The new ZRA E-tax payment capability adds to this list.
