LUSAKA Province Minister Bowman Lusambo says talented XYZ Entertainment singer and vocalist, David Phiri, popularly known as Deav, died because of being very careless on the road.
Commenting on the accident that claimed the life of Daeve and four others who were in the vehicle when it careered off the road and caught fire, Mr. Lusambo says he witnessed what happened as he was coming from Chirundu on the fateful day and that carelessness is what caused the accident.
“I was coming from Chirundu as you might be aware, Chirundu is my district in Lusaka Province. I witnessed what happened and I can assure you that first of all, may the soul of the young talented musician rest in peace but he was very careless on the road.
“Very careless. I witnessed whatever things which happened.. he was very careless and… don’t drink and drive. Don’t drink and drive. He was careless on the road. I saw what was going on there. He was very careless on the road,” Mr. Lusambo repeatedly said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Lusambo says he believes that Zambian musicians are well taken care of. He says he personally has had a cordial working relationship with most of them and that he still works with most of them because they are doing a good job.
“For me, musicians are being looked after and for me, as an individual, I have worked with almost every Zambian musician. I have worked with them and I am still working with them and I respect them. I respect them because they are doing a good job,” he said.
