THE Ministry of Tourism and Arts’ Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW) has set Thursday, October 15, 2020 as commencement date of resident and bonafide hunting.
Ministry of Tourism and Arts Public Relations Officer Sakabilo Kalembwe has told The Scoop this morning that this will be preceded by a raffle draw on Wednesday October 14 to be held at Lusaka’s Government Complex at 09:00 hours.
Mr Kalembwe says in the interest of transparency, the department has invited applicants for the 2020-hunting season to determine the selection of those that will be issued with hunting licenses.
He says the hunting licenses will only be issued upon full payment of the prescribed feed for various animal packages.
“Resident and bonafide hunting season will run up to December 31, 2020. Resident hunting gives an opportunity to Zambian citizens and established residents, including those in rural areas living side-by side with wildlife, to legally access game meat thereby reducing poaching,” Mr. Kalembwe said.
