KAMPYONGO ISSUES MINISTERIAL STATEMENT ON KANG’OMBE SUMMONING

By Bennie Mundando

HOME Affairs Minister Stephen Kampyongo will today issue a ministerial statement over the summoning of Sesheke United Party for National Development (UPND) Member of Parliament, Romeo Kang’ombe.

The Zambia police this morning summoned Mr. Kang’ombe to appear before them at Mpika police station at 09:00 hours without giving any reason for summoning him.

This comes days after the UPND were accused of attacking Patriotic Front (PF) members in Mpika and when asked to confirm the development, police spokesperson Esther Katongo affirmed Mr. Kang’ombe’s summoning but declined to comment further on the matter.

Ms. Katongo however says Mr. Kampyongo will issue a ministerial statement over the matter in Parliament today.

“It is true. The Hon. Minister of Home Affairs will give a ministerial statement in Parliament today,” Ms. Katongo said.
