ZAMBIA TO FAST, PRAY FOR AN HOUR

By Bennie Mundando

THIS year’s National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance, and Reconciliation in Zambia falls tomorrow, Sunday, October 18 but will be commemorated on Monday, October 19, for just an hour.

Secretary to the Cabinet, Simon K. Miti, says to this effect, Monday will be observed as a public holiday and that the event will only take place from 09:30 to 10:30 under strict adherence to Public Health guidelines to prevent the further spread of COVID-19.

Dr. Miti says this year’s event will be held under the theme “Zambia Seeks God’s Intervention for Sustained National Unity, Peace and Prosperity” with the scripture readings coming from Isaiah 43:2-3; 3 John: 2; 2 Chronicles.

“The National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation is a Public Holiday. In view of the fact that the 2020 National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation falls on a Sunday, Monday, 19th October, 2020 will be observed as a Public Holiday.

“The National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation commemoration will be held in the Showgrounds in Lusaka from 09:30 hours to 10:30 hours and other events will be held in all the Provincial centres throughout the country.

“Members of the public are advised, as they attend these events, to observe Public Health guidelines to prevent the further spread of COVID-19,” Dr. Miti said.
