REPORTS suggesting that National Revolution Party (NRP) president Cozmo Mumba fell sick on Sunday after fasting the whole day as ulcers got the best of him, leaving him hospitalised at Kalingalinga clinic have caused angered the party rank and file.
Clive Chikulamyunga, the family spokesperson and NRP Secretary General says the NRP and Dr. Mumba’s family are shocked that some online malicious and unprofessional media house hiding in the cyberspace have chosen to peddle falsehoods about the ailment of their leader.
Mr. Chikulamyunga says at no point was Dr. Mumba admitted to Kalingalinga Clinic, and at no point was he involved in prayer and fasting on Sunday, October 18, 2020 as he had an attack on Saturday, October 17, 2020 and was admitted to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) the same day.
“We however will not want to dwell on those false and malicious statements coming from uncultured and un-Zambian spirited individuals but ours is just to give the nation facts about the opposition leader who has and still contributes a lot to the development of this nation,” Mr. Chikulamyunga said.
He says Dr. Mumba fell ill on Saturday evening shortly after his party held its National Convention in Lusaka and that around 17:00 hours after the NRP team noticed he was unwell, it immediately contacted his wife and his personal physician.
“After the intervention by his physician and the family, we rushed him to the University Teaching Hospital and was admitted the same Saturday at about 18:30 hours. He is admitted at Premium High Cost Ward at UTH.
“Therefore, we wish to information the nation that Dr. Cozmo Mumba is responding well to treatment, getting better and in great spirits. Lastly, we thank the medical team at UTH for the unconditional care and support they are giving our president,” he said.
