MS. KAMBWILI SEEKS INONGE WINA’S INDULGENCE OVER DAUGHTER’S INCARCERATION

By Bennie Mundando

NATIONAL Democratic Congress (NDC) president Chishimba Kambwili’s wife, Carol, has stormed into Vice president Inonge Wina’s office seeking her intervention to have her daughter, Chanda, taken to court so that she can be bailed out.

Yesterday, the Human Rights Commission (HRC) intervened and had Chanda seek medical attention from the beatings she suffered from the police at the time she was picked from the Magistrate Court earlier this week.

But when Ms. Kambwili today went to Kabwata police to chat the way forward over the incarceration of her daughter, police were not prepared to take her to court on top of them refusing to grant her a police bond.

Realising that appearing in court and securing a bail is the only way to secure Chanda’s freedom for now, Ms. Kambwili has stormed Ms. Wina’s office asking for her intervention as police are reportedly not cooperating and only hell bent on punishing her daughter further.

Sources at Cabinet Office have told The Scoop that Ms. Kambwili and some party officials are currently waiting to meet Ms. Wina as she is in another meeting.

“They simply stormed Cabinet Office because there was no appointment to meet the Veep. She is in the company of NDC national youth chairperson Charles Kabwita, the national mobilisation chairperson Christopher Mutale, and another man only identified as Mr. Mutale,” a source said.
