65 FOREIGNERS IN IMMIGRATION DRAGNET

THE Department of Immigration in Lusaka has apprehended 65 suspected illegal immigrants in a clean-up operation conducted yesterday.

Immigration Public Relations OfficerNamati Nshinka says the operation covered various areas of Lusaka, including Matero, Chunga, Kamwala, and Chelson.

He said other areas were Kamanga, Chilenje, and Chalala.

“Those apprehended in the clean-up operation were 24 Burundians, 21 Congolese, and 11 Tanzanians. Others were four Rwandese, a Ugandan, and four others claiming Zambian citizenship.

“The majority were apprehended for trading without permits, unlawful entry, and unlawful stay. They are all currently detained pending further immigration processes,”Mr. Nshinka said.
