LUANSHYA MAYOR DONATES TO ANGLICAN CHURCH

LUANSHYA Mayor Nathan Chanda has donated musical instruments and K10, 000 cash to the Mpatamatu Anglican Church as part of the congregation’s Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Mr. Chanda, who graced the launch of the All Saints Anglican Church Golden Jubilee commemoration activities in Mpatamatu yesterday, called on Christians to work harder and supplement their inter denomination prayers with joint community entrepreneurship and development projects

He has urged Christians to join hands ensuring that the spreading of the gospel is taken to a higher level through making generous donations aimed at supporting the expansion and sustenance the work of the Church.

“The Church leadership must promote entrepreneurship and social justice in society so that all citizens including Christians, can maximise their potential without any interference of infringements of one’s rights.

“It is important for the Church to get organised and encourage members to form cooperatives and other progressive groups and access various Government and donor-backed empowerment programmes which help individuals or groups of people to be self-reliant,” Mr. Chanda said.

He has commended the Anglican Church leadership for diligently serving Luanshya residents through consistently giving sound advice and acting as a source of strength to the oppressed and less privileged.

He has also asked the Church to pray for him and all politicians and the whole country in order to have peaceful, issue based, and violence-free campaigns ahead of the 2021 elections.

And speaking during the same occasion Luanshya Anglican Church vicar general Father Steven Panji thanked the Luanshya Mayor for his humility and loyalty to the Church, which he said is leading him to donate generous to congregations and doing good works for the benefits of residents of Luanshya.

He has urged Church members to be ambassadors of peace and do good whilst alive and always remember to support leaders who are always with them.

All Saints Anglican Church priest in-charge Father Chola Mwelwa thanked the Mayor for the donation and explained how the local authority and Government were empowering the youth, who he said are the country’s future leaders.

He wished Mr Chanda well in his endeavours and thanked President Edgar Lungu and the Patriotic Front (PF) Government for its developmental agenda.

Roan-Mpatamatu Anglican Church board secretary Boaster Chitani thanked Mr. Chanda for the donation and honouring all the pledges he makes to the Church in Luanshya and other parts of the Copperbelt.

Former District Commissioner for Ndola Canon George Chisulo was among invited guests who attended All Saints Anglican Church Golden Jubilee commemoration.
