. but four players remain, awaiting medical clearance

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says four out of 31 Zambia national soccer team players will today not travel with the team to Cameroon for the 2020 Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.

according to a statement released by FAZ communications manager Sydney Mungala, the development has been necessitated by additional Confederation of African Football (CAF) medical requirements to be conducted on the players.

FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says FAZ will adhere to all health guidelines prescribed by CAF as part of the tournament regulations.

Additionally, three more players with CAF engagements will join camp in Cameroon after fulfilling their club duties.

The players are not out of the squad but will miss the pre-CHAN tournament that kicks off on Friday in Yaoundé. Our top priority now is the health of all the players and the Covid-19 spike has placed additional demands that are part of the CAF and FIFA regulations,” Kashala said.

Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic’s squad leaves for Cameroon at 15:45hours today (Wednesday) ahead of the four nations pre-tournament that kicks off on January 1, 2021.

The CHAN will run from January 16 to February 10, 2021.
