All Peoples Congress (APC) president Nason Msoni has questioned Government on the disappearance of the funds that where set aside to pay former Government employees (separatees/ volunteers).
Mr. Msoni today said there was no rationale and clear explanation coming from Government on why the payment to former Government employees had not yet been effected.
“This announcement to pay former government employees was made by both the Republican President and the Minister of Justice. The former employees feel cheated and deceived by the Government.
“It is apparent that in spite of the assurances coming from government, the money was diverted or stolen and we demand that the law enforcement officers should pursue this matter and bring it to its logical conclusion. We denounce this inhuman and unfair ill-treatment of the former government employees in the strongest term.
*3523 retirees under Nansando Isikanda case still languishing in poverty*
Days have turned into weeks, weeks into months
Since the political pronouncements from the Minister of Justice that retirees would soon be paid their monies yielded no results. This prompted the president to respond to the plight of voluntary seperatees by instructing the responsible ministry ( MOF) to pay the affected retirees promptly. The retirees were recently given new hope when Ministry of Finance carried out a nationwide audit, promising them that they would soon be paid, but upto now the retirees have not been paid and are clueless of what is holding up their payment. Retirees are once again, humbly asking H.E President Edgar Lungu to come to their aid saying over two decades of suffering is unbearable and too many have died leaving their money
