NO SAFE SPACE, CYBER CRIMINALS WARNED

By Bennie Mundando

MINISTRY of Information and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Amos Malupenga has urged the media to play an active role in sensitizing members of the public on the benefits of the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Bill which went through Third Reading in Parliament yesterday.

Mr. Malupenga has warned abusers of the cyber space that their days were numbered.

Meanwhile, Mr. Malupenga said there was need for the media to intensify public sensitisation on the Bill so that even those that may be opposed to the Bill could appreciate its benefits.

He said contrary to opposing voices, the Bill will assure safety and security of all citizens in the cyber space.

The enactment of the Bill comes against the backdrop of rampant abuse of the cyber space by unscrupulous people who are abusing social media platforms to bully others and commit fraud and other financial crimes.
