PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says the Comprehensive Agriculture Support Programme (CASP) has roped in the extension services which were missing under the Farmers Input Support Programme (FISP) to make the programme effective.
President Hichilema says the CASP concept will ensure increased productivity by farmers and that this is the reason Government is hiring 500 extension officers to actualise the objective.
“We are replacing Farmers Input Support Programme (FISP) with Comprehensive Agriculture Support Programme (CASP) because FISP was focused on inputs and production to the exclusion of extension services. What we have done is to ensure that the missing component, extension services, is addressed so that farmers can increase their productivity. This is the reason we are hiring 500 extension officers,” President Hichilema said.
