FARMING BLOCKS ARE A REAL DEAL, SAYS ECONOMIST

By Alvin Siandabile

Kabwe based economist Noah Kabwita has commended Governments for recognizing agriculture as the main foreign exchange earner apart from the mining sector.

Commenting on the introduction of farming blocks, Mr. Kabwita says it is exciting that Government wants agriculture sector to take centre stage and be the main driver of foreign exchange that the country needs.

He observes that the procurement of land using funds from the African Development Bank (ADB) from traditional leaders across the provinces for commercialization of agriculture is equivalent to creating more multi-facility zones and that this will earn the country the much needed resources.

He has since called on mindset change among the people mandated to implement Government’s policies if the country is to reap positive results.

Agriculture the oxygen of the economy! We can do a lot with agriculture let it be implemented in all districts as well. If all districts are considered either in aquaculture or other agriculture farming it can help our villages economies at large and create employment for unskilled as we have number of unskilled labour. We just hope for the best!
