KALOMO District has received 20,880 of basal and 14,980 of top dressing fertilisers under the Agriculture Support Programme (ASP) by the engaged dealer, Alpha commodities.
Acting Kalomo District Agriculture Coordinator (DACO), Ng’andu Simuulu says six deposit points have been created to ease the process for framers issued with the Authority to Deposit (ATD) forms to do their transactions
Mr. Simuulu says Zoona, Absa, Zanaco, Atlas Mara, ZICB and Zamtel are the financial deposit points where farmers can either individually or collectively through their respective cooperatives do the required deposits for this farming season’s agro inputs.
However, farmers have urged Government to consider doing the deposits process early, saying looking at the number of farmers to be cleared, it may go up to the rain season for all the farmers to make the necessary deposits to acquire the agro inputs.
By yesterday, only 3,713 out of the targeted 31, 000 farmers have successfully deposited the required K400.00 to access the six bags and 10 kilogrammes of maize seed.
This is good news
