THE Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Northern Province has arrested two people for trafficking in over 300 kilograms of loose cannabis.
The Commission has jointly charged and arrested Chipungu Sikonde, a male aged 29 and Justine Mulenga, a male aged 23 both of Mpulungu District for trafficking in 285 rolls of loose cannabis weighing 301 kilograms contrary to section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act No. 35 of 2021 of the Laws of Zambia.
The suspects were apprehended at a known filling station in Mpulungu and the contraband was wrapped in banana leaves and concealed in black plastics.
They are detained in lawful custody and will appear in court soon.
