LEAVE HAMASAKA ALONE, LUNGU TELLS OPPOSITION

By Jessica Mwansa

THE continued attacks on Clayson Hamasaka over his appointment as State House Chief Communications Expert only shows how some opposition political party leaders have run out of ideas, the Evangelical Youth Alliance (EYA) has charged.

Speaking to The Scoop this morning, Executive Director Reverend Moses Lungu says such attacks are unnecessary and urged the opposition to stick to issues when providing checks and balances to those in Government.

“One needs to have experience to manage the communication affairs of State House and that should not raise unnecessary constitutional debate. Constitutionally, the President has authority to appoint people to various positions and we all know Mr. Hamasaka has vast experience which cannot be taken away from him. He is a communications guru who has nurtured many people who are doing very well in the media industry today,” Rev. Lungu said.

He has expressed disappointment in the Citizens First party leader Harry Kalaba who he says does not have a heart for citizens.

“He should be the last person to condemn Mr. Hamasaka’s appointment at State House. Mr. Kalaba abandoned the people of Luapula Province at the time they expected him to represent them on various issues affecting them.

“Today, Luapula lags behind in terms of development. It is deception to form a political party and call it Citizens First when you cannot stand for the so-called citizens,” he said.

He has since advised Mr. Hamasaka not to be distracted by negativity from people like Kalaba and focus more on ensuring that he delivers as he is expected from people who believe in him.
