COUNCILLOR BEMOANS ARCHAIC CDF APPROVAL PROCEDURE

By Jessica Mwansa

KALIKILIKI Ward 35 councillor Shadreck Mwanza has expressed concern over the slow process of approving projects under Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

Mr. Mwanza says the Government should change the old system which is the main cause of delay in CDF project delivery.

“As much as we understand that correct procedure has to be followed, the Government should revise the CDF process because people are blaming us for the slow delivery owing to problems being faced in the ward. People are calling us names on the ground despite working tirelessly to ensure that the projects are approved,” he said.

Mr. Mwanza added that despite Government and the council doing their level best, the procedure should be revised to an easy process to necessitate timely delivery.

“Each province should at least have an assistant to help speed up the release of the CDF. Otherwise, our job is to wait for our proposals to be approved after being submitted to the CDF,” he said.
