NORTHERN Province Minister Leonard Mbao has refuted allegations by Patriotic Front (PF) Lunte Member of Parliament Mutotwe Kafwaya that there was a distribution of fake fertiliser in the region.
Mr. Kafwaya has alleged that a company that was contracted to deliver and distribute fertiliser in the Northern Province supplied fake fertiliser which resulted in crops being damaged.
But Mr. Mbao says the story of fake fertiliser being distributed in the area cannot be verified because there is nothing tangible to support the allegations advanced by the Lunte parliamentarian.
He has told The Scoop in an interview that the allegations may have arisen from a misunderstanding but that it should not be taken for a fact.
Mr Mbao, who is also UPND Mpulungu Member of Parliament, said if anyone wants clarification, they should not shy away from contacting the provincial Permanent Secretary, Bernard Mpundu, as opposed to spreading falsehoods.
And when contacted for a comment, Mr. Mpundu says it is unfortunate that Mr. Kafwaya, as a leader, has started spreading such falsehoods.
he says it is very unfair and unethical for political leaders to engage in such acts of falsely scandalizing the distribution of fertiliser without having facts on the ground.
He says the Ministry of Agriculture sent experts to go and check the commodity and verified that fertiliser was credible and fit for use.
