ADVOCACY for vulnerable children will definitely be strengthened once the Non – Governmental Organisation (NGOs) Act of 2009 is repealed and replaced, Advocacy for Child Justice (ACJ), an NGO that advocates for the rights of children who come into conflict with the law, has said.
Government is in the process of completing the repealing and replacing of NGOs Act of 2009 with the aim of enhancing the operations of NGOs among other issues of human rights.
ACJ Executive Director Josphat Njovu says once repealed, advocacy on the implementation of national, international, and regional standards for treating children who are in conflict with the law in Zambia will be strengthened.
“We will effectively advocate for vulnerable children without the fear of being muzzled by the Government once the Act is repealed and replaced” Mr Njovu said.
He has however commendable Government for showing commitment in building a favourable environment for NGOs to operate.
