FIRED MINES PS PROTESTS INTERVIEW WITH THE SCOOP

By Felix Mutambo

FORMER Ministry of Mines and Minerals Development Permanent Secretary Mooya Lumamba says there is no story worth writing about over his dismissal.

Mr. Lumamba was appointed as Permanent Secretary on September 7, 2022, after his predecessor, Sakwiba Musiwa, but his honeymoon at the ministry was also short-lived as his contract was terminated on 28th February 2023, barely a year on the job.

Before Mr. Lumamba’s dismissal, President Hakainde Hichilema fired Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Roy Mwansa as well as District Commissioners Adam Banda of Chifunabuli, Nchelenge’s Robert Musonda Mutepuka, Mwansabombwe’s Molton Mutunda Sikazwe, and their Isoka counterpart, Collins Sichivula.

Mr. Lumamba’s dismal came at the height of alleged illegal mining and export of Sugilite gemstones from Muombe Mine but when contacted for a comment on his dismissal yesterday, Mr. Lumamba told The Scoop there is no story worth writing about over the matter before abruptly cutting the call.

“Oh! Eh… there is no side of my story … there is no story at all,” Mr. Lumamba said before cutting the line.
