PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema and his predecessor Edgar Lungu know each other and sometimes say certain things in public just to see how people will react, Chief Chipepo of the Tonga people in Southern Province has charged.
Commenting on President Hichilema’s remarks on the Copperbelt on Monday where he said Mr. Lungu’s narrative of a possible comeback to politics and lead Zambia after threatening to jail him had he (Lungu) won the 2021 elections, kutumpa, Chief Chipepo says the duo have a tendency of testing public opinion.
He however notes that certain sentiments are not supposed to be made in public and advised citizens to be careful who they decide to follow, saying politicians are the same as they use the same tactics to gain political mileage.
“These two know each other. They send each other to say certain things just to get people’s reaction, and at times it becomes difficult to comment on their issues about those two politicians because if you are dealing with two people who know each other very well, it means they are playing on your mind,” Chief Chipepo said.
Chief Chipepo says politicians should not be trusted very much as they tend to change at any time and that citizens should not create enemies based on what politicians say publicly.
